Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about renting our ice cream machines are found below. However, if you have specific question feel free to contact us!

What do I need to order for my event?

We recommend renting one machine and one ice cream mix per 100 guests. If you want TWO FLAVORS you’ll need to rent TWO MACHINES – since the machines are only single flavor. If you want to order extra mix to make sure you don’t run out you can always return unopened mixes for a refund. So plan for extra!   Check our our Plan your Ice Cream Event for more info.

Can I use the soft serve machine outdoors?

Yes, but it MUST BE IN SHADE.  On days over 95 degrees we recommend using the Big Hit machine indoors – or the ice cream will be softer.  It’s hard to freeze things in that heat!  

How long will it take to set up the machine and make ice cream?

Mixing the ice cream takes just 5 mins – just mix with the right amount of water.  We’ll provide the mixing bucket and whisk.  The first batch of ice cream is ready in about 10 – 15 minutes after the machine starts up.  As the ice cream is being served it can make about 3 cones per minute before the consistency gets softer.  If the ice cream is getting soft, wait 1-2 mins for the machine freeze and click off again.  Watch our mixing instruction videos on the Plan your Ice Cream Event page!

What kind of power source should I plan for?

The Big Hit machine is a full powered freezer and needs a dedicated 115 volt, 20 amp circuit (like the types of plugs that run fridges, washers and dryers in our homes.) No other appliances can be plugged into the same circuit (a group of several plugs in a room).  Plan ahead at your home or venue to find out which outlet(s) would be appropriate to use.  Consider the other power needs of your event and make sure they will not conflict with the outlets needed for the ice cream machine. 

What form of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Venmo, and PayPal. We do not accept checks or cash. Payment in full is required at least 3 weeks before your event date.  

What is the cancellation policy?

Machine reservations must be cancelled at least 14 days before the event date to receive a refund.  Ice cream mixes that are returned unopened will be refunded.  Orders that are not picked up will be considered cancelled without refund.

​When and where do I pick up/return my machine?

We are located in Merced, CA.  The pick up address will be given to you after your reservation is made.  We are flexible to make plans for pick up/return around your schedule.  Machines can be picked-up one day before your event and returned one day after your event at no extra cost.  Machines that are returned later than the agreed upon time will incur a late fee.  

How big is the Big Hit soft serve machine?

Width 16.5 inches Depth 26 inches Height 30 inches. You will need a vehicle that can transport the machine PLUS a cart of similar size. We recommend full-size vans, trucks or SUV’s. You will need two or three strong people to pick up the Big Hit machine as it weighs 220 pounds.

Is delivery available?

We offer delivery within a 70 mile radius of Merced, CA.  Please see our delivery estimates page for a list of major cities we service and the delivery estimates. A custom fee for your location will be included in your order.  We will arrange delivery and pick up times to fit both of our schedules. Machines are not delivered or picked up on Sunday.

What if the machine doesn’t work at my event?

ALWAYS CALL US IF YOU RUN INTO A PROBLEM!  We can help you troubleshoot and fix many issues.  But if you don’t let us know then we can’t help!
